Thalapathy Vijay is eagerly gearing up for the release of his movie, tentatively titled Thalapathy 69. As the buzz for the movie’s title release is heating up, it seems that the makers might opt for a nostalgic option for Vijay’s alleged final movie.
According to a report by Valai Pechu, the makers of Thalapathy 69 are considering naming the upcoming movie Naalaiya Theerpu. For those who are unaware, the same title was used for Vijay’s debut venture in 1992.
The movie from the early 1990s marked Vijay’s introduction as a lead actor after appearing as a child artist earlier. The movie which was directed by Vijay’s father and director SA Chandrasekhar was a vigilante actioner that was bankrolled by Vijay’s mother and playback singer Shoba Chandrasekhar.
The Tamil-language movie tells the tale of a businessman who has many extra-marital affairs which even leads to him molesting a woman. However, after the woman gets preganant, the businessman’s son grows up in anguish and goes on to enact revenge for the same.
Along with Vijay, the film also featured newcomer Keerthana in the lead role who later played roles in South movies and transitioned into Tamil soap operas. The film also featured an ensemble cast of actors like Easwari Rao, Srividya, Radha Ravi, Sarath Babu, and more in key roles.
The movie had become a major flop back in the day and was negatively received by critics, going as far as to ridicule Vijay’s appearance.
Now, it seems that the makers of Thalapathy 69 might use the same title for their upcoming venture but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. The movie directed by H Vinoth is said to have an army backdrop and is likely to unveil its first look and title on January 26, 2025, coinciding with Republic Day.
The upcoming film which is touted to be the actor’s final cinematic venture features Bobby Deol and Pooja Hegde as the female leads. Moreover, the film also has actors like Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani, and more in supporting characters.
